Youth Programs

Explore Your Creative Side:  Wednesday, January 2nd, Ages 9-14 yrs.  The day will be filled with a variety of creative projects…. from cooking with basic ingredients to a unique way of knitting and making a fun craft project that will be sure to bring out their inner talents. Participants will be cooking their own lunch. Snacks will be provided. Must register in advance. Limited spots. 8:30am-5:00pm. Cost: $30

Shinny Hockey Day:  Friday, January  4th 9am-5pm at the Bobby Vail Community Outdoor Rink. Teams of 4. Divisions: 8-10,11-12,13-14. $50/person, includes Shinny games, off-ice activities, snacks and lunch. Helmets are mandatory. Must register in advance. Payment must be made at time of registration. *Special guest ’Frisbee Rob’ McLeod will be joining us for the day and offering frisbee demonstrations off and on the ice.

Youth Zone After-school Drop-in: This after-school program is offered Monday to Friday 3:15-5:00 pm.  This drop-in program is an opportunity to get youth involved in a variety of activities in the Field House. Lots of equipment will be available for sport and games with the focus on being active and spending time with friends. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are free due to the generous support of the Woodstock Rotary Club and Canadian Tire-Woodstock.  *Please note price increase. Drop-in fee on Friday is $4. Payment options are available.  

Boxing Fitness ClassThese classes are designed to target all ages and all fitness levels. Achieve the fitness and skill required in a purely recreational and social way.  Participants will not only achieve a greater level of fitness but will gain confidence as well, training at your own level.  Come along to the sessions and enjoy a good workout in a friendly atmosphere and reap the benefits that boxing training will give you.  Every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday 6:30-8:00pm.  Cost: $8.00/class

Swim Lessons:  Registration for our Winter Session is open. We currently offer Lifesaving Society’s ‘Swim for Life’ program. The Winter Session consists of 10-weeks and will begin on Wednesday, Jan 9th, Saturday, Jan 12th and Sunday, Jan 13th. We offer programs for participants from age 4 month (Parent & Tot) to age 12 years.

Fun Box Program:  5-weeks of Sunday classes begin on Sunday, January 13th 4-5pm in the Fitness Room off of the Field House. This youth boxing program is designed for kids 7-10 years, that incorporates a variety of coordination drills, strength-development exercise and mobility movements to help develop future athletes. Along with the technical components of boxing our program teaches youth discipline, commitment and builds confidence all within a fun and supportive atmosphere.  Cost: $40/participant…limited spots. NEW!...Boxing t’s now available for sale at reception.

Young Chefs Cooking Class:  A 5-week program. Registration for our next session is open. Youth ages 10yrs+: Mondays starting Jan 14th 3:30-5pm. Youth ages 5-9yrs: Thursdays starting Jan 17th 3:30-5:00 pm.Participants will be taught the basic skills of preparing simple family meals, after-school snacks, and baking.  Other topics that will be covered are kitchen safety, food handling, and etiquette.  Emphasis will be put on creating more healthy choices so that participants are instilled with healthy habits that will last a lifetime. Cost: $60/session.  Must register in advance…spots are limited.

After School Boxing Program: A 5-week program every Tuesday and Thursday 3:30-4:30pm starting on Tuesday the 15th, in the Fitness Room off of the Field House. For youth in grades 6 to 9 that attend the Youth Zone after school program. Due to sponsorship, this program is FREE! This program will teach youth the basic boxing skills and techniques to help increase strength and improve endurance. Boxing helps improve self-confidence while keeping them physically fit.

 

Creative Minds Studio for Young Artists:  Georgia O’Keeffe: Acrylic Flowers. This session students will be looking at one of the instructors favorite artists and learn about the elements of design in order to create their own large scale paintings. This class is always such a great learning experience for students as they really get to develop their techniques and skills. Dates: Sun, Jan 20th, 27th, Feb 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th. Time: 1:30-3:30pm or 4-6pm.  Cost: $145 all quality supplies included.

Babysitting Course: For youth ages 11 years and up.  Learn how to make a child’s environment safe and fun.  Cost: $45. Must register in advance.  Monday, January 28th (PD Day) 9am-4pm.

Family Tube Sliding:  We’ll be transporting participants on Monday, January 28th to the E&P Senechal Center in Grand Falls to enjoy a day of Tubing. Spots are limited so register early. Helmets are mandatory. Time of depart TBD.  Cost: $25/under 16; $30/16+.
